Welcome Summer with Balance, Joy, and a Touch of Magic

Welcome Summer with Balance, Joy, and a Touch of Magic

As the warmth of June settles in and nature reaches its fullest expression, we are invited to do the same, expand, explore, and embrace the vibrant energy of summer while maintaining balance in body, mind, and spirit.

In both Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda, summer is associated with the Pitta dosha, the energy of fire and transformation. While this season inspires motivation, creativity, and action, too much heat can leave us feeling irritable, inflamed, exhausted, or experiencing digestive discomfort.

This month, I invite you to cultivate cooling practices, mindful movement, and nourishing foods that support digestive health and overall well-being.

A Passion Project – Three Years in the Making

I am delighted to announce that the Yoga Chronicles of the Enchanted Forest is finally complete! After three years of writing, revising, dreaming, and creating, Elora the yoga-loving elf and her friend Alfie the grumpy bear are ready to share their adventures with children and families everywhere.

The book now includes beautiful illustrations that bring the enchanted forest to life. And there’s a special secret…As you explore the illustrations, look carefully. Hidden throughout the artwork is a special surprise waiting to be discovered.

Download your complimentary copy today and begin your magical journey through the Enchanted Forest.

June Cooling Yoga Practice (5 Minutes)

When summer heat builds, try this simple practice:

1. Seated Centering (1 minute)

Sit comfortably and lengthen your spine. Notice your breath and allow your shoulders to soften.

2. Side Stretch Flow (1 minute)

Raise one arm overhead and gently lean to the opposite side. Breathe deeply into the ribs. Repeat on both sides.

3. Cat-Cow (1 minute)

Move slowly between arching and rounding the spine, coordinating movement with your breath.

4. Supported Forward Fold (1 minute)

Rest your hands on a chair or table and allow your head and neck to relax.

5. Cooling Breath (Sitali/Sikari) (1 minute)

If comfortable, curl the tongue and inhale through the tube of your tongue, exhaling through the nose. If tongue rolling isn’t available (its genetic, you can’t learn it), simply press your tongue against the back of the front teeth and inhale through the sides of the tongue (Sikari) and exhale slowly through the nose.

Notice how your body feels calmer and more refreshed.

A Gentle Reminder

Your digestive system is often your body’s messenger. When you listen to it with compassion, healing becomes possible.

May June bring you balance, vitality, and a little enchantment.
